FAQ

If you don't know, now you know

Does Copa Bar Service provide alcohol for events?

The last thing you want to do is tackle the masses at the liquor stores, determine how much to buy, prepare and store a thousand items. Avoid that by adding alcohol to the package. All alcohol we purchase is on your behalf and is a reimbursement. The best part is, all alcohol unused is still yours to keep!

Can I provide my own alcohol?

Yes, and we are happy to help you put together a shopping list if that is what you would like to do. You may also use our alcohol calculator. Use the Alcohol Calculator link at the top of this page to access it.

Are cocktail tastings available?

Yes! A tasting session is an optional add-on. The lead bartender will set up a time to meet in your home for you to taste cocktail options. They will come prepared with recommended cocktails for you to try. If you have any special requests, please let us know and we'd be happy to recreate it. The tasting session is an exciting part of the planning process and allows you to taste and choose the ones you’d like as your signature cocktails.

Where can Copa Bar Service operate?

Most of our events take place at event venues, private residences, or corporate offices. We can bring cocktail service to hotels or other businesses, so long as they allow outside vendors. We can only operate in public spaces with special state permits. It is your responsibility as the host to make sure your venue allows alcohol and that we are permitted to serve there. If you’d like us to talk directly with the venue, we are happy to do so as well as to produce commonly requested documents like a business certificate of existence, proof of insurance, and alcohol server certification. If we have a contract and later find out we are unable to operate in that location, no refunds are issued as we have already begun working on details and we have turned other bookings away in order to reserve your spot.

Some of our guests are not drinkers. Do you offer special non-alcoholic options?

Absolutely. Our non-drinking friends are just as important and should always feel included. Non-alcoholic versions of our specialty cocktails are available in most cases. Many of our mixers are made from scratch and those abstaining from alcohol can enjoy "mocktails."

My Aunt Sue only drinks Vodka Sodas. Will there be simple mixers as well as your specialty cocktails?

Yes. As part of the Basic and Works Cocktail Packages, we include basic mixers like soda water, tonic, ginger ale, ginger beer, cranberry juice, orange juice, grapefruit juice, pineapple juice, sour mix, Coke products, and garnishes for all those "Aunt Sues" out there.

My go-to bar serves this cocktail called "blank" and we want to offer it for our guests. Can you recreate our fave?

We love a challenge!

My friends are a rowdy bunch and can get out of hand with open bars. Will you cut people off?

Serving up enchanting libations is our mantra, but doing so safely is our duty. Our staff has alcohol server certification and trained accordingly to the DABC guidelines to responsibly serve alcoholic beverages. We are also the friendly ones and have no problem talking someone into a water or soda instead.

How do gratuity and/or tip jars work?

This is ultimately up to you. Bartenders will display a tip jar unless you choose to add additional staff gratuity, then we will skip the tip jar.
The two options are 15% gratuity with a tip jar displayed, or 25% gratuity without a tip jar displayed.

Are you insured?

Of course. We carry 5 different types of insurance to protect you, the venue, and our team. Our $1m/$2m general and liquor liability policy automatically covers you but if you would like to be listed as additionally insured, let us know ahead of time.
If you require additional coverage or any special forms, you are responsible for the additional cost of those.

I'm a venue owner. Will Copa Bar Service leave the area a mess after they are done?

No, our team will leave the bar area tidy like we found it. We are not responsible for messes made outside of the bar area however we do offer additional staff if the client wishes. These staff members will help keep the venue nice and tidy as well as help in any other way they can. Additional event staff are not responsible for anything dangerous or things the venue would normally be responsible for like maintenance, repairs or unclogging toilets.

Do you travel?

Yes 👍 Travel rates include mileage and accommodations. Travel fees are applied to events outside of Salt Lake, Summit, Utah, and Weber counties. Inquire about travel rates for your event via our Contact Us Page.

What do bartenders wear?

Bartenders will wear dark pants and a black button-up top. If there is a specific dress code, we may be able to accommodate.

What is your cancellation policy?

You have 72 hours from booking to cancel with a full refund on the retainer, after which no refund of the retainer will be granted. If you do need to postpone, you may apply your retainer to another event within 6 months of your original event date, subject to availability. A sub-contract will be created reflecting the date change.

A 25% retainer is required to book. This retainer goes towards your total invoice. This retainer is non-refundable as we have turned away other bookings in order to reserve your date.
